Choosing, Contacting and Accessing Co-locations
Co-location Sites
Why do you need a co-location?
The purpose of the co-location is to provide a controlled environment for you to house and connect your router to the AMS-IX switches. You must have an agreement with your chosen co-location before you can physically connect to an AMS-IX switch.
The co-locations themselves are independent of AMS-IX and therefore the issues of locating your equipment on their sites needs to be directed towards the co-locations directly.
In case you are connecting over a pseudo-wire (remote layer 2 connection), you are still responsible for ordering the local cross-connect from the transport provider termination to our patch panel on site (this can usually be arranged through your transport provider). Please make sure that the co-location provider is aware you are connecting to us at their site as we check with them if you are known to them.
Which co-location is for you?
Please consider all six co-locations before you choose where you want us to enable a port for you. The AMS-IX services offered at the sites are all similar, we make no distinction. All six locations have different datacenter service offerings that may fit your needs. Use the links below to find out about their services, pricing and availability and contact them in case you need more information.
What do the co-locations need to know before you can move in?
The co-locations will typically need details on:
- Required rackspace (how much equipment you plan to store at their site)
- The level of physical security you require
- Power requirements of your equipment (typically 8 Amps but can differ)
- What type of physical connection you are planning with AMS-IX
- Whether or not you are planning to set up private peerings with other members
